Fund A Nun Project

OK, so what exactly IS the Fund A Nun project?  I guess Fund A Future Nun might be more accurate but it just doesn't roll off the tongue quite as easily, nor is it quite as cute. <smile>

Fund A Nun is the name I've given to the fundraising effort I've undertaken to pay off my bills so that I can enter the monastery and fulfill my vocation to religious life.  No one can enter religious life in the Catholic Church with debt.  All debt must be paid off before a man or woman can enter a community or a seminary.  I am  working through The Laboure Society who helps people like me to pay off their debt and get on with their vocations.

Any monies collected from the sale of the CD, "Long Have I Waited" (you can purchase this by clicking on the link above in the navigation area) or any of the other fundraising methods undertaken by the Fund A Nun team go to The Laboure Society so that I can help others while helping myself, and so that my benefactors can receive the extra added benefit of a tax deduction along with the knowledge that their effort will assist others even after my personal project is finished.  The Laboure Society is a 501(c)(3) corporation so your donation is tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.  As of Sept 2009, the society has made the priesthood and religious life a reality for 186 people.   To get detailed information about the mission of The Laboure Society and to read some of the vocations stories of their aspirants, please click here: The Laboure Society.

Mr. Cy Laurent, executive director of The Laboure Society, is quick (and I think correct) to remind us that the Catholic Church is very much in need of vocations to the priesthood and  religious life. Through his work with The Laboure Society, he has found out that there are MANY men and women (in the thousands) who stand ready to begin their service to God's people but they are being delayed by the debt they carry......largely in the form of educational loans. As he is fond of saying, "....The Laboure Society offers an ETERNAL return-on-investment opportunity."  Not too many investments can boast an ETERNAL return.  The generous folks on the Fund A Nun team have taken up the opportunity by giving so generously of their time and talent.

So here's a toast to opportunity!!!  I hope you'll join us.

Prayers always, for you and yours!!!
